Douchebags of the Year (so far) UPDATED AS OF 230p

#1 – Harry Reid

from The Hill:

Reid stated, “I don’t believe in the executive power trumping everything… I believe in our Constitution, three separate but equal branches of government.”

“If Obama steps over the bounds, I will tell him. … I do not work for Barack Obama. I work with him,” he said.

You have to be kidding. I cannot even comment. For the past 2 years, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have been the perfect Punch & Judy for George Bush.

#2 – Dick Cheney (who has permanent membership)

from CBS Radio via Politico:

Cheney conceded in an interview with CBS radio that he sometimes expresses himself “rather forcefully toward some of my compatriots, like Pat Leahy from Vermont” but dismissed as a caricature the idea that he is a “Darth Vader-type personality.”

“I think all of that’s been pretty dramatically overdone,” the vice president said. “I’m actually a warm, lovable sort.”

Puke bags supplied upon request.

#3 – Sarah Palin

Palin believes Caroline Kennedy is getting softer press treatment in her pursuit of the New York Senate seat than Palin did as the GOP vice presidential nominee because of Kennedy’s social class.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Maybe because Caroline Kennedy is an accomplished author, graduated from Harvard and Columbia Law School, and has done a great amount of public service. And maybe you were treated like you were because you are a fucking moron who could barely finish college and thinks seeing Russia is a qualification for the presidency. Also Palin, you mocked public service. And besides, I don’t think the press has been very kind to Caroline Kennedy at all.

  1. Are you certain you have enough puke bags for the ENTIRE country? Or at least the thinking half? And this list is for 2009, correct? Go Gators!

  2. It’s such a hoot to hear Limp Noodle Reid suddenly get all up in Obama’s face when for five years, Reid was unable to stand up to Bush on anything.Tell me again? Why is Limp Noodle Reid the Senate Majority Leader?

  3. I fear that with Reid and Pelosi in the way, the road for Obama will be long and hard.

  4. I remain furious with Obama over Rick Warren but I want him to succeed. I think he learned the hard way about the political price of dancing with a religious extremist like Warren and the impact on his LGBT and progressive base. But as SkylersDad said, Obama is going to have problems with people in the Senate. One such person is Sen. Dianne Feinstein.DiFi is a bitch on wheels and is still smarting over Obama defeating the Borg Queen.

  5. There’s no question that Reid and Pelosi will suddenly have the sturdiest spines in Congress.

  6. I love the “so far” part!

  7. My contempt for Harry Reid is nearly boundless.

  8. My contempt for Harry Reid is nearly boundless.

  9. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth after reading what The Big Dick Cheney thinks of himself.Harry Reid is the ultimate fucktard…seriously.

  10. Well, Obama might be able to bully the leadership to do whatever it is he wants—but it doesn’t inspire much faith in my government.

  11. The Dems have a long history (since Reconstruction) of bickering and self-destruction. Obama’s a smart guy but the odds are not in his favor. Perhaps the best we can hope for is that he isn’t Bush.

  12. harry reid is the biggest ass in washington right now – i think i would take a republican over reid — not only is he an idiot, he is a stupid fucking idiot. anyone who can make nancy pelosi look GOOD is truly an idiot.reid may end up being the downfall of the dems.

  13. I think you’re being too kind in calling Reid and Cheney douchebags. Scumbag, ass-wipes, turd blossom, seem to fall short of the mark, too.

  14. harry reid didn’t get where he is without the other dems voting for him to be leader. i have lots of problems with him, but i think he has a shitty job that nobody else wants. he’s a wimp for sure, and most of the time, i want to smack him, but the other dems are enablers. i would love to see what goes on behind closed doors. his remark about obama doesn’t bother me. what was he supposed to say? ‘we dems intend to be a rubberstamp for the new dem prez, just like the rethugs were for chimpy’? i think obama will get most of what he wants without a lot of shit from the dems in the senate, but they can’t be seen as another wing of the white house.deadeye dick is not a douchebag. douchebags leave things smelling better after they have done what they do. same for princess sarah. did you read what she said about katie couric? she didn’t tell katie what newspapers she reads, because the world doesn’t revolve around katie. lol!! the woman is a fucking idiot!

  15. MOST ANNOYING OF 2009 SO FAR:1 & 1A Bush & Cheney2 Harry Reid3 Sarah Palin4 Barack Obama5 Nancy Pelosi6 Jesse Jackson, Jr7 Rahm Emanuel8 Caroline Kennedy9 Mitch McConnell10Patrick LeahyBest Matchups for 2012 Presidency:Democratic Party, Robert Wexler for President, Kathleen Sibelius for VPRepublican Party, Sarah Palin for President, Sam Brownback for VPObama: Working on his pecs and sociopathy somewhere far far away

  16. Kelso,I love your list.Obama has moved to the number 2 spot on my list thanks to Rick Warren and Tim Kaine. We’re in for a long, four years, methinks.

  17. Christopher, down here people don’t know what to think. Everybody wanted Clinton because she and Bill effectively liberated Panama from the US. When Obama won, insiders here were glad because Gregory Craig represents ex-Prez Perez-Balladares and ex-Assembly Speaker Gonzalez, so people figured at Democrat who has a counsel with Panamanian experience would be great. They’ve been watching with jaws agape and eyes wide open. The Warren thing has been too much for people here. It’s a very bad civil violation to gay-bait a stranger but to have a prayer by a person who’s homophobic and anti-Semitic and will refer to Jesus in the invocation for Jesuit Latinos is like EXTREME BLASPHEMY.And to have Colin Powell anywhere near him, is the ultimate insult for Panamanians. It would be like Bush having Hitler as an unofficial military advisor from an American Jewish perspective.President Torrijos is still waiting on his courtesy phone call from Obama and yet Obama did take the time to criticize Torrijos publicly because our banking system is “too private” and is not “helpful in either the war on terror or the war on drugs.”Yet, as much of a loathsome dipshit as Obama is, the Republicans managed to find the ticket that was qualitatively worse. That’s saying something.

  18. If you’ve noticed, there’s been no Obama cheerleading anywhere on the blogs anymore. Most bloggers I visit regularly either are pretending he doesn’t exist or are critical. Mostly the former.

  19. Hi Cap and Kelso;I have seen enough of Obama, he may be a great guy and family man but he should have stayed in law and not in the President’s chair. He has successfully taken his message of hope and change and merged it into hopeless and what’s the difference. He scares me now and I perceive a weakness. I hope his administration does not succeed at what Chimpy started, destroying the federal government economically.

  20. Perfect list. Harry Reid deserves the #1 spot. My contempt for him personally–and the congressional democratic leadership generally–knows no bounds. I hope he tries to interfere with Obama and that Obama ties him into a tight whining knot. That said, I agree with Christopher. I hope he succeeds, but I remain wary.

  21. Just hearing Palin makes me sick. Actually, just hearing OF her makes me sick!

  22. Pissed in NYC hit the nail on the head. I’m weary now.Watchful.

  23. Jesus Christ- maybe there are no Obama cheerleaders in the blogworld because he’s not been inaugurated yet.Getting furious at this stage is ridiculous-let the guy get into office, then when he fails to march in lockstep with everyone’s specific wishes, blast him.Because we all know he’s just one step above Bush, right?Wrong.

  24. Great lists all of them. Reid and Pelosi make me so ill.

  25. geez I don’t know I think Sarah P needs Higher Honors….LOL…thanks for doing this list- wonderful…Someone needed to do it..

  26. ICHABOD: I’m with you on this. Obama’s problem is that while he’s intellectually gifted enough to do the job, the job is frightening to him and not terribly interesting besides. He’s weak and he quite rightly perceives the Republicans as strong because sick as they are they don’t buckle. He feels like he has the Democrats completely buffalo’ed. Mostly, Democrats are. They’re enjoying the win. They’re wimpy about seeming racist. The usual drill. It took some folks who were pissed off at him — Blagojevich, Burris, Danny Davis, Bobby Rush, and the conservative watch-dog group Judicial Watch — to stand up to him and fight. And what happened? They won easily because Obama’s spineless. He’ll always back down if you challenge him. So, with each move he makes that continues the Bush legacy he’s now adopted, that same old coalition of stand up representatives from the Black Caucus, the Progressive Caucus, the libertarian and right-wing extremist Republicans will just re-unite, stop him, and MAKE HIM GOVERN RESPONSIBLY against his own wishes.

  27. Reid: His lips must be chapped from kissing Bush’s ass all those years. Cheney- Darth Vader like personality– or NO personality at all, you decide.Palin- Not happy about Kennedy because of her social class– keyword being “class” That’s right Sarah, you can’t buy it @ a spendy store. I HAVE to add Blago to the list. He will get the dubious honor of first impeached politician of ’09. Wonder what that’s worth?Look for Blago’s behind the bars written expose of political dirt to dish.

  28. Only three? What a kind and generous heart you have 🙂
